Sun-warmed rock can mimic belly heat and a snake may use it occasionally, but the primary way a snake warms itself to digest is basking under the sun, from above. Why most keepers now say heat comes from above
The overhead case has three parts, and keepers make them constantly. First, a heat mat does not heat the enclosure. Second is the kind of heat. CHE and DHP: ambient and night heat, not a basking spot
